The CDC, and Anthony Fauci in today's presser, put seniors (no qualifiers) in the high-risk category.
Pence consistently (today and yesterday) says, "seniors with underlying conditions."
That's a big difference. Wouldn't it be nice to get consistent information?

(29,556 posts)Saying an M.D. in a political system is free from political influence is like saying the lawyers in the DOJ are free from it because they are members of the bar.

(11,885 posts)So what are they doing to provide them with financial help now? They should be sending them checks for a start. Many can't afford this crisis. They also want to hurt their SS and reducing Medicare, and Medicaid. Trump and the GOP aren't friends of any seniors.

(814 posts)so the CDC shouldn't use it. "Underlying conditions" isn't clear either. Pence doesn't know any better, but the CDC should. Readily available data shows that the death rate of infected people starts to climb once they are in their 60's, and really takes off for those in their 80's. Readily available data also shows how people with various afflictions, heart disease & high blood pressure for example, also have increased fatality rates. I read this yesterday in the Guardian. Should be easy to find.
