German newspaper Welt am Sonntag has reported that US president Donald Trump has sought exclusive rights to a vaccine for the coronavirus which is being developed by a German-based company, CureVac.

The report, which quoted unnamed sources, said Trump had offered large sums of money to German scientists working on the vaccine, and that the Germany government was working to prevent the US procuring it on this basis.

He supposedly wanted the company to only sell any vaccine they produce to the US. The Germans then countered offered. Meanwhile, the owners of the company are ordering Lamborghinis, and those $30,000 French handbags.

Okay. I made the last sentence up.

Whilst I'm not certain that this report is true, it would be very Trump-like to do something like this, so he could claim that he saved the country.

was one of the local distribution points open to the general public to receive the vaccine in sugar cubes. People lined up with their kids. If I remember right, there were 3 successive doses taken at intervals for it to be effective.

That was when responsible leaders actually cared about public health.
