Nike is closing all of its stores in the United States and a number of other countries in a bid to stop the spread of coronavirus. The company is closing its stores in Canada, Western Europe, Australia, and New Zealand from March 16 to 27, a Nike spokesperson confirmed to Newsweek. The spokesperson also confirmed to Newsweek that workers will still be paid while stores are closed.
Nike stores in South Korea, Japan, most of China and in "many other countries" will remain open, the company said.
"The well-being of our teammates and consumers is our top priority so we have decided to close our stores in multiple countries around the world including in the United States, Canada, Western Europe, Australia and New Zealand to limit the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19)," Nike said in a statement.
