No way in hell are we postponing the general election

This numbskull needs to get out of office and there is no way we are postponing the election. I am hearing in Europe they are postponing theirs. Primaries are already being delayed here.

We need to be really loud about resisting this! We can do mail in or anything but we are not going to delay this election.

and only Congress can change the date. And that's all Congress can do, since otherwise the individual states control their elections. Europe has mostly parliamentary governments, which can relatively easily postpone elections. That's not true here.

Aren't you a constitutional lawyer, I may have remembered wrong.
I just saw after I wrote this Amy Klobuchar is working on a bill to guaranty our elections even during a crisis.

...what I'm worried about is the long lines if this plague is still happening in November. Who will be willing to stand in crowded lines for hours with coronavirus still going around? The long lines will be mostly in heavily Democratic areas, of course, because that's where the Republicons deliberately and by design create the situations that cause those long lines, which means Democratic turnout will be severely depressed, a lot more so than Republicon turnout. So we've got to start thinking about this situation NOW, and pushing for solutions. Voting by mail is an obvious solution. I'm going to ask my local elections officials if I can start getting absentee ballots in the mail that I can use to vote by mail. They're already mailing out sample ballots just before every election. Why not make those ballots official instead?
