There are a number of DU'ers who have climbed the ladder of fame even.

Indeed.

A successful post there gets maybe 10 responses. A few huge ones get a few dozen, and the majority of them get less than 10 or even 5. Sure, I check it out from time to time, but it's so hopelessly pathetic I can't even bring myself to get mad at them. Really, it just makes me laugh.

A few of their regulars are fromer DU members who got mad that they got banned and are still trying to get back at this site years later for it's "liberal intolerance," a code term for "I was an obnxious asshole who couldn't bother to read the rules of the forum when I joined or am so privileged I thought they didn't apply to me."

It's a sorry lot of humanity.

Mentioning that site only fed the trolls, and it got to be a real pain in the ass so Skinner dropped the hammer. Juxtaposition, mentioning or linking to Free Republic was OK.

then back to fill whole threads with badmouthing, exposed it as one of the satellite forums that formed around DU. Interesting, but not surprising, that they've apparently never broken their energy dependence and developed a better reason for existence. Same for that little JPR nest.
