(195 posts)teaching, waiting tables and being a cashier at a grocery store. I've done all three and have tremendous respect and appreciation for those who hold these underpaid and largely underappreciated jobs.

(90,565 posts)All those pioneer women, like Ma Ingalls, lugging their stack of schoolbooks along the endless miles so they could teach their kids the 3 Rs in the wilderness -- I salute them.
All those teachers in overcrowded classrooms, I salute them too. I wish it was up to the likes of you and me to see they got paid as much as they deserve.
