The oath implicitly refers to crimes. Being a liberal isn't a crime yet Cyrano Mar 2020 #16

He would like our current White House resident to be taken into custody because he is a “domestic enemy.” And while this is true, it is not the job of the Secret Service to overthrow the president.

It is the job of the Senate to overthrow the president, and they have already proven they won’t do it.

It doesn't mention the senate or anyone else. The oath is taken as a personal responsibility. It's not a group thing. It's an individual promise to protect America regardless of where the threat comes from.

Oath taken by people who believe in a god:

I, (name), do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

Oath taken by people who do not believe in a god:
I, (name), do solemnly affirm that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter.

Where in that oath does it give anyone permission to overthrow the president on their own accord, regardless of how rotten or corrupt he is? Because I have news for you: if Secret Service agents were allowed to do that, they would have overthrown President Obama in a heartbeat just for the fuck of it.

There are exactly two ways to overthrow the president of the United States: impeachment and the 25th Amendment.

all these oaths people (politicians and such) take is just ceremonial bullshit that means absolutely nothing.

That would be a coup and the military might even intervene in Trump’s favor.

According to your reasoning, the oath is meaningless.

If he really did shoot someone on 5th Avenue, the New York police would arrest him.

A man who has kidnapped children at the border and put them in cages. A man who has intentionally ignored a virus, that could end up in thousands of deaths, when he could have acted to minimize it, is, by any definition, a domestic enemy. I could continue, but you get the idea.

Yet, the Secret Service continues to protect him while ignoring the oath they took.

the oath probably refers to non-elected troublemakers. Congress and President are likely immune. Otherwise, you might have a SS that arrests a President just for being liberal, for example.
