My son just lost his job for at least 30 days

The restaurant in which he works will close for 30 days at least (S Denver Metro) and his boss just called him. She told him to file for unemployment insurance until this can be resolved.

If you all would not mind throwing some good thoughts his way, he'd appreciate it.

He is bummed.

And while attending college year 1. He left on good terms and could likely go back.

Thank you.

Works at the Mohegan Sun, in the main arena. All shows cancelled until further notice.

Fortunately, he rents from me, so I suspended his rent payments.

One sells wine to restaurants, bars and stores. Two of the three are now shut down. The other is a personal trainer and drives Uber. The Uber gig is still somewhat viable though scary for the exposure (he’s being very cautious but we’re in Seattle!) but he’s strongly thinking of switching to Uber Eats since delivery is the trend.

I’m fine until I suddenly want to breathe into a bag.

They are in Atlanta. I told them to look into Instacart. I'm guessing lots of people will be ordering groceries online over the next few months.

She was crying. Her school is closed too. All her plans are messed up.

Me? I'm pretty happy if we can get out of this without her being infected.

She wasn't jobless for long. I hired her at the same pay rate and hours to work from home on a charity effort to scan historical documents for a non-profit library I'm trying to help. That will keep her busy for a month or two.

"There is an internet full of courses on nearly anything you are interested in. Pick one & I'll pay for it. Don't waste the time."
"Any research or studying you need to do for when school resumes?"
"you haven't been playing your guitar. Now you can"
"you mother needs help with replacing the carpets or house stuff - help her out"
"spring appears to be early - wanna learn how to or help garden?"
" what about learning to cook?
"Your room is a mess. Now's the time to clean it up and get organized"
"Now you can drop off your laptop for repair first thing in the morning and use the other one I gave you until it's fixed".
"The basement stone walls need mortar if you want a real job ... the bags of mortar and tools are in the basement ready to go. $5 more per hour than scanning"
"Wanna go fishing? Or see some sights from the car? "
"Here's some great books to read or audio books to listen to ..."
"Is there anything you need before the stores lockout? like a good video game?"
"Universal is putting their movies online. Is there one you'd like to see?"

I haven't pitched those yet.

Got to keep them busy or they can get depressed.

I'm sure you could brainstorm a little with your son and put a list together.

Mine will be moving on pretty soon.
