I'm a census worker and was out canvasing in a predominately AA community.

An older white gentleman told me I was brave to be working the neighborhood. It took all I had not to tell him the only people I was worried about were the ones across the street from him that had a HUGE Trump banner flying from their second story balcony. What a racist POS.

took me into neighborhoods throughout the U.S. Wealthy, middle, the projects, mobile home parks, low income housing, etc... Asian, White, Black, Hispanic, Islamic.... you think of it, I was there... the only places I felt uncomfortable (just as you described) were the middle income neighborhoods with trump flags, large trump yard signs, "we don't call 911 signs", etc... the people there were standoffish or rude... luckily I didn't have to knock on doors... only walk through neighborhood

There's not a neighborhood anywhere near me that could scare me after that.

I bet we could share a lot of interesting stories years ago I gathered info for the nationwide drug study and with this latest job I went into public housing in East St. Louis, gathered information on Wall Street in NYC (early morning, watching the rats scatter as I neared), walked neighborhoods in Trenton where the houses had razor wire around the houses, and so many more interesting places.....

I worked Troy, Alabama but fortunately, mostly driving around neighborhoods

I really loved the job. Worked with an amazing attorney contracted by CPS. One of the finest human beings I've ever met. When they hired him there was a huge backlog of unprosecuted child sex cases. He got cases closed and perps sent to jail. Always felt good when I could get a child out of a bad situation.
