Husband is working in his makeshift home office.

He went to the lab long enough to get two computer monitors, his second laptop and his lab notes. He is frustrated beyond belief right now that his research is shut down. He will also begin teaching online next week without labs for his students. He is concerned about his grad students who are ready to complete and defend their PhD dissertations once these final experiments are done. His lab runs on federal grants that will no doubt become even more difficult as this progresses.

We are trying to help our community as we can, buying gift certificates to our favorite local restaraunts, trying to buy local when we can. My husband is helping the people in our neighborhood who can't get out. I can't go out due to a compromised immune system, I have been working at home for a couple of weeks now. I am only part-time but what I need to do I can do from home. We fully understand how blessed we are to have a paycheck and a roof over our heads, and food in the fridge.

I love my sweetie, but his mood will no doubt get much worse as this goes on. I am good with him turning the spare bedroom into a home office, it gives us some space necessary for a good relationship .

We both have home offices at different ends of the house. It works well, except when someone comes to the door.

Then we invoke the pantalones defense. You get it, I don't have pants on.

It can certainly have a negative impact on personal hygiene.

That wouldn't do, but then some might.

My brother has a job he can do entirely without going into an office. He was even able to move to another state without disturbing his job or having to find another one!

to understand the software for teaching courses online and to make sure it is working properly.

He was teaching in-class until this past Thursday, and a number of students were really freaked out about having to come in. School shut down right after.

I don’t see why a dissertation can’t be defended in an online meeting with the committee. That shouldn’t be so very hard. The biggest issue is teaching lab courses or art studio courses, etc.

(was it for Ohio State or University of Chicago or some other school's announcement?) that individual students might be allowed into labs under certain conditions, and with precautions.

Hope that will pertain to his student.

It is tough teaching old dogs new tricks but he thinks he will be fine. He worries about the students not having the labs and not being properly prepared for the next class.
