A ray of hope in this Al Jazeera article

Not that we aren't in the midst of a shit storm right now, and it's going to get massively worse within a matter of days, but I found an article on Al Jazeera's website called "In China, life returning to normal as coronavirus outbreak slows."

There is no telling how long it's going to last here in the U.S. with the Mango Menace's grossly incompetent handling of the epidemic, but in the article, it says that people in China had to stay home for about two months.

Two months is a long time for most of us to go without a paycheck, but still, hearing a finite "two months" made me feel slightly less freaked out.

Here's the link:

Of course, we don't have China's draconian quarantine procedures, so it will take longer here. eppur_se_muova Mar 2020 #1

Sometimes an authoritarian regime has its advantages, but that's not necessarily a recommendation.

I just saw on the news some footage of Chinese authorities welding shut the door of a person who refused to self-quarantine. I would not want to see anyone beaten up for not wearing a mask, either.
