As Mnuchin and others propose or consider a $1000.00 check, what about the rest of us?

We are all a wreck about this virus. Yes, a $1000.00 check might help many whose incomes and work situation are affected by the virus but:

There are so many of us that wonder what happens to us. We are seniors, living hand to mouth on Social Security alone. It is hard enough to keep the wolf from the door now. We are advised not to go to the large grocery stores. If our needs require, we have to go to local small convenience stores. I am not trying to criticize these small stores, they pay more for their stock than the big grocery stores. However, the cost of goods to those of us on a limited income has gone up significantly, at least in my neck of the woods.

If the situation continues, we are even more at a disadvantage.
There has been no mention of checks to anyone other than those with jobs or have lost their jobs.

What about those of us who worked all our lives to establish this country? No consideration for us? Why?

The GOP is hoping we'll die off quicker. They've never cared about low income seniors to start with.

I really wish we had another Reagan so we could all get a block of government cheese.

because of the surplus. "It's YOUR money," he said.

Throwing money at a problem instead of investing it in solving a problem has never worked.

Social security will keep going, as will other assistance programs
Those approaching retirement or in retirement should not have much exposure to the stock market

Financially your cohort should not be impacted

all you have to do is stay home, and find someone to help with obtaining essentials.

you are less impacted by this than those who are still working (with the obvious severe exception if you get sick)

to giving every adult a check regardless of work situation. It would act as a general stimulus to an economy that is headed for recession.

It also makes it much easier to get public support, most people are greedy buggers and will have a hard time saying no to getting a benefit, especially when no one is getting more than they are.

My earlier statement was more to the point that seniors do not need any additional financial assistance beyond what everyone else should get.

be on a fixed income. I still have time to earn a little extra on the side. Gas is as cheap as it has been in years. Those still working need someone to watch the kids not in school.

But if that's your stance that those retired deserve NOTHING in a stimulus plan then that's your stance.

lost their jobs in the past few weeks and months? Do they qualify for a check, or do we penalize them for being “lazy, unproductive leeches?” You know the Rs will try their damnedest to vilify the most-vulnerable among us, especially if it means having an excuse to not help them through this crisis.

And what about independent contractors who are paid as 1099 workers? Do we ignore them as well?

8. Hell...in Kansas we're one of the few States that imposes FULL sales tax on food

7.5% to be exact. You think you could get a Republican majority in the State House and Senate to eliminate that tax or drop it to 1-2% on non-prepared food?? HELL NO YOU CAN'T.

But several years ago all of them were 100% on board with a Gov Sam Brownback ZERO % income tax for businesses--which created ZERO jobs. Lasted a few years and about bankrupted the State. That's why I'm leery about any so called "help" from an ass hat like Trump and Republicans.

$1000 isn't remotely close to enough, maybe it was in 1975?

INFLATION....

These morons who have so much $ think that is enough to get through?

Insane in the brain!

Add two zeros at least!

Don't care about hyperinflation, that messes with the rich and why they offer such pittances!

MATH MATH MATH!

Trump and munchin screwing over people needing help the most, and his $1000 offer to everyone is a joke and not anywhere what's really needed, around $5000 to everyone to make it unless another one is needed. This could last 1 1/2-2 years before this is over. Trump knows that too and instead lies about it. People hearing just $1000 will be outraged at trump.
