"This is a virus that came from the territory of China but came from bats. This is a bat virus"

MSNBC ✔@MSNBC

.@RichardEngel: "This is a virus that came from the territory of China but came from bats. This is a bat virus, not a China virus. It doesn't speak Chinese. It doesn't target Chinese people. It targets human beings who happen to touch their eyes, nose or mouth."

in fact the emphasis on its origin is misguided, except to the extent that its origin may help guide research into vaccines or treatments or prevention of future similar outbreaks.

as a practical matter, today, the virus has nothing to do with bats, and little to do with china except as minor historical point.

it doesn't care about your country. it will drown you in your own phlegm no matter what country you are in, so what's the point in arguing about it.

just call it COVID-19 and try to figure out how to best treat the 70% of the planet who will become infected with it.

Each bat can eat between about 600 and 1,000 mosquitos and other kinds of insects in one hour.

We drive to Bracken cave (in TX) twice a year and spend and hour or two watching the bats swarm and leave the cave.

If you're ever in the San Antonio area, it's worth the 1/2 drive into the next county over to watch it!

And never take any blame for yourself.
