'People are desperate to see you play': Greenberg's NRL rallying call
Todd Greenberg has issued a rallying cry to more than 500 of the code's players amid the coronavirus crisis, telling them their health is not at risk as they prepare to play in front of "millions of people desperate to see rugby league".
The NRL chief executive fronted a video alongside the Rugby League Players' Association's Clint Newton which was sent to every contracted player from the 16 clubs, passionately arguing for them to talk glowingly about the game.
The NRL will be one of the only major sporting codes worldwide to forge ahead with their current competition amid the COVID-19 outbreak. The Bulldogs will play the Cowboys behind closed doors at ANZ Stadium on Thursday night.
In the video, Greenberg described the global health crisis as "extraordinary times" and insisted no player's health will be compromised as the NRL takes advice from biosecurity and pandemic experts.
