We even have a new employee starting next week.

Our cto is going to meet him in the office and give him a disinfected and wrapped laptop and monitor for him to take home and he'll get his orientation remotely.

What a way to start your first job out of college, right?

Very unusual times.

Your CTO is taking the risk. I also applaud the efforts your company is taking.

My own - well, we get to stay home, but now there is a hiring freeze because they're not prepared to do that. We'll shuffle existing contractors around, or utilize off-shore for any staff-aug.

But yeah, still a risk, never mind the virus. Just meeting an unknown new employee alone in an otherwise empty office is a risk.

Waiting for my work to set up a lapper for me to use. Of all things to whine about during the world melting down but....will be hard with just one monitor.

Peace

I'm IT, I support 100 users, who are all now teleworking. Been incredibly busy helping everyone get their home systems working so they can telework. San Francisco is shut down. I work from 6:15 until 3:45.

Technology is great. I can do (almost) EVERYTHING that I do in person, but now I don't have the 2 hour commute on public transit.

I take care of my elderly mother. I'm scared to death I have it and am giving it to her.

I am grateful and thankful that I still have a job, and that I am able to help all my colleagues also be able to work from home. The days have been hectic, but fruitful. I think we can do this.

My heart wenches for everyone who is losing their work, their pay, their lives. I'm OK here with my mom. I have to go out next week but we will cross that bridge then.
