A plea to Democratic Underground posters

The passions, convictions and intelligence of almost all of the posters on this fantastic website are dynamic and representative of the breadth of our common political perspectives. While we may not agree on every detail, we're certainly on the same side in opposition to Trump and the bastardized Republican party that supports him.

My suggestion is that all of us that have the wherewithal to help support this website make a contribution to its maintenance.

Please, if you can, become a Star Member. Even if it's just a few bucks, this site provides a haven for all of us.

To be clear, I have nothing to do with the administration or operation of DU; I simply feel that this site provides all of us with a forum to express our First Amendment rights and share our common ideals. It's a daily go-to site for me and for all of you. Let's support it in these turbulent times!

2. I didn't know what a star meant or how to get one.

Maybe you could add to your OP and let others know how and why it is a cool thing to do. I was told that is gets rid of ads and only cost $3 I think. Is that still valid? If I knew about it earlier I would have done so a lot sooner. Once I knew this info I became a "star member" within minutes.

4. You can actually pay whatever amount you want. It's your choice completely.

I usually try to time mine with the annual Hearts campaign, so I can accomplish two things at once: get a bunch of hearts for my friends, AND support the site.

I wish we could buy stars for other posters. We used to be able to do that. And I brought it up back in February. Was sort of hoping the admins would see it and figure out a way to let us do it again. Maybe now?

Unfortunately, at this point I can't afford to due to spending thousands of dollars in medical N95's and equipment for my kids.

I will as soon as I financially am able to.

16. Is there still a way to give a star?

I asked a few months ago and never got a reply. It would be cool if we could give stars to people who don't have them, like we used to, but I can't find it anymore.

I seem to remember that some of people getting them turned out to be trolls, and so the Admins decided to not allow that anymore.
