helping one's immune system to ward off/combat this covid-19.

My husband passed suddenly last year and he was taking prescribed D because of his diabetic condition. There's plenty left and so I didn't toss them and now providentially I have some to start off with.

Thanx again!
Love all you on DU!

I noted that. They're 50 mg. 2000 units? They may be too strong potency. sprinkleeninow Mar 2020 #2
I think that dose should be fine. Turin_C3PO Mar 2020 #3

because it’s fat soluble and can build up in the body to potentially toxic levels. Unlike Vitamin C which is passed through the urine.

Be well!

What if I chop them in half or only take one every few days. I got other supplements going on and don't take them all on the same day.

I was told to take that due to an osteopenia diagnosis. Both my dr and ob/gym said 2000 was considered a maintenance dose.

Based on recent research, Dr. Weil recommends 2,000 IU of vitamin D per day. Look for supplements that provide D3 (cholecalciferol) rather than D2 (ergocalciferol). ...

No adverse effects have been seen with supplemental vitamin D intakes up to 10,000 IU daily.

You have a deficiency. And even then it can be dangerous and cause kidney damage.

I think you should research it a bit before ever posting that again, and then only with some credible links, like the Mayo Clinic:

Taking 60,000 international units (IU) a day of vitamin D for several months has been shown to cause toxicity.

Happened to me- endo now directed never supplement d again. In addition most people don’t need to supplement anything, it is a waste of money and can be dangerous.

I used to take 10k mg a day, but only for about two months.
It is best to take with fish oil and magnesium.
I have DNA that doesn’t store Vit D.
This is what my doctor and I agreed to do.
I get checked every 6 months.
Take it at breakfast because it can give you energy so that’s a bonus! Take the magnesium at night before bed.

in my life, I speak only as one individual, that raw garlic with a high allicin count is an effective way that I have avoided colds and flu for many, many a year. I AM NOT saying that it will help with this current virus sweeping our little blue marble. Research it yourselves and make your own decisions as to its efficacy.
