Just want to say that now is NOT a good time to catch-up on some of those fixer-upper

tasks around the house. Is is NOT a good time to climb up on that old ladder to clean the gutters. It is NOT a good time to take the chainsaw to that limb that has been bothering you. It is NOT a good time to do anything that you might wind up needing to head to the doctor's office or emergency room.

However, it IS a good time to become that discerning scotch/whiskey/bourbon expert you have always wanted to be. It IS a good time to go back and watch GOT from the beginning (I missed the first several seasons and thought it would be too hard to just jump in).

So, I'm curious what else IS a good thing to start now?

Stay safe and get your hands away from your face. In fact, go wash them now and then come back.

I'm rewashing ziploc bags for reuse. Also stretching the rubber gloves, reusing them in the garden or paint projects until they rip. And even counting out the squares on t.p. to make sure I don't waste it.

40 years in the business world (now retired) and a few size changes I am going through a vast collection of clothes now that I have time. Keep, donate, pitch. 2 closets and many drawers stuffed to the gills. Under normal circumstances I only dress “nice” twice a week now (community band practice and church), the rest of the time it’s jeans and a turtleneck or T-shirt. I haven’t seen a shortage of trash bags (for donating or pitching) yet, maybe that’s next.

alike. My son who passed on 3/6/20, clothes are being donated to the clothing bank at my church. No cost to to those who shop. Right now the clothing bank is closed but there will be a good inventory of mens t-shirts, boxers, and a few dress shirts for job interviews.

that killed Sen. Kennedy and Sen. McCain. My son was 35 and put up a good fight. His tumor was in his thalamus and then spread to the brain stem. It was starting to shrink.

I've finally chosen a color for our metal-walled sunroom that doesn't turn bizarrely orange or beige in full-blast Florida sun reflecting off green wetlands.

I think my chances of cheating death, or hospitalization, are always pretty good, but thanks for the reminder to be especially careful.

Experts know when it's time and when it's not time: The amateurs get into trouble and then out of frustration do stupid things.

Same with unnecessary driving: No need to have a car accident right now.

Dial it down.

I'd have to just sit and do absolutely nothing... Oh wait, that could result in a stroke or heart attack which could result in an ER visit, hospital stay.

Eons ago I worked in ER and hubby was a paramedic, the reality is that some people can twist an ankle, break a bone, straight requiring stitches just walking into the bathroom, gardening or stepping out to get the mail. Let's not even think about the risk for injury taking a simple shower or mowing the front lawn can be.

Oddly enough hubby and I have hurt ourselves more often just doing everyday activities than DIY projects (and we do a LOT of those out of necessity). I suggest being more mindful & careful, don't let yourself get distracted from what you're doing, don't be foolish and try to do a 2 or 3 person project with just 1 person or push beyond your capabilities and do what you need to do for basic home/property maintenance.

Oh and as I've learned from experience, if you have a vehicle and are staying home for prolonged periods of time, don't forget to include starting and running it now and then or you might be in for an unpleasant surprise when it won't start and you need to get somewhere. BTDT

And I mean that in the kindest of ways.

We adopted two little sisters in 2008. They could each fit in the palm of a hand. Our lives immediately came to revolve around them.

When I retired in 2017 we decided to move from Manhattan to the Poconos (for obvious economic reasons). So we built a house there. We didn't get to move in until July 2018.

As the builders were nearing completion of the house, we started wondering where to put the litter box. There was no place that one would fit that wasn't adjacent to a public area, or in a bedroom. So, I actually had the builders shorten the garage by 3 ft (we have a - short - 2017 vw beetle), and create a hallway to the garage storage closet. Their litter box is at the end of the hallway, out of sight, out of hearing distance.

There is a cat door in the door to the laundry area/hall to the garage, leading to their private powder room. They come and go as they please. If at all possible it is the perfect solution. There is one other cat door into MY bedroom door. They sleep with me every night.

I see this as their home, and they are allowing US to live there. They go anywhere they want.

Our lives would be so much emptier without them. Good luck with your search for life companions. But they are a LOT like children. They are, if you are lucky, an approximate 17 yr commitment, with little to none of the negatives of children.

right before a slow house remodel that has taken the last year. That's mostly over (whew) and we are ready! We had and have the same cat box problem but my daughter recently got a new cat and hacked a metal IKEA cabinet to house cat box and supplies, with cat door. Brilliant and clean! So eventually we can get one from her and put it in a spare bedroom and should be fine.

We put out a social media request. Also talked to the local closed shelter because it is likely people will still be calling them to deliver unwanted kittens and we can hook up with them privately (and carefully) if numbers can be exchanged.
