Please think of those who are losing their income...

….and don't qualify for unemployment or assistance. Hairdressers, nail techs, waitresses, etc. I am isolating myself, but these folks need some income. You may be isolating, too, but think about sending those who make your life easier a check for their services even if you cannot or chose not to use their services....if you are able.

We are one! We can do this!

My GF had to take a leave of absence because she's in a high risk age group (she worked in retail) and her daughter and her husband both worked at an Alamo theater. they have closed.

but as luck would have it the daughters husband just landed a job at apple but doesn't start for another month. so lean times until then.

...and most of them are out of work.

They're filing for unemployment, and at least in Colorado, any job-loss that is Captain-Trumps-related is covered.

But now "can't".

A relative and the roommate live there and both had employers shut down.

I think the place is paid for, but..

...in Dallas. I anticipate rent receipts will start to lessen. There will be no evictions, I can eat the losses, as long as there is enough to keep the lights and water on. Just do what you can.

I'd check to see if there are emergency unemployment benefits available. In Illinois (middle of last week) they have instituted emergency benefits, just need to show lost work because of virus. Guidelines are clearly listed. Not sure how many more states adopted this.

I am in this boat. Self employed, cannot work, will not get this $1000 check or whatever it's supposed to be. Some of my friends are in the same boat. I'm a trainer and so are they.

Including me, who is a tech professional with 40 years of experience and very current skills.

So far, I've been told companies aren't hiring outside contractors at this time. I've been told companies have put new hires on hold because of the resources required to on-board. Even networking isn't kicking open doors.

I do have interviews and some opportunities, but it's at a snails pace.

My adult kids on the other hand were simply told to apply for unemployment and wait until their employers open again.

There isn't much out there right now. Doesn't matter that you have a college degree and no criminal record. Doesn't matter you come with great recommendations. Nobody is responding.

I can imagine what is happening to people without those pluses going for them.

And most part time workers aren't eligible for unemployment. Especially if they have been paid off the books.

I guess everyone can work at the dollar store or walmart until they shut those down.

All of the stores I sell to are closing or closed for who knows how long. I have lost my job for the foreseeable future. Not eligible for unemployment checks. Worried for my husband and me. Also worried for my vendors and my stores. With a couple of exceptions (museums) my stores are little independents and my companies are too.

We lost our home because of the last recession which was bad enough but there was no pandemic in the mix. I am trying to focus on one day at a time because I cannot bear to imagine what life will be like in a month or six months.

I am 63.

My own kids are fortunate to have jobs where they can mostly work at home, but many of their cousins are simply out of work.

My wife is a health care professional on the front lines of this crisis. Her coworkers sixty years and older have been sent home for their own safety. She is working without adequate supplies of masks, gloves, etc..

people in countries outside the US who have relatives here who send them money. I would venture to guess that the shutdowns in the hospitality industry (motels and restaurants) are particularly harmful to this revenue stream.
