#MillionMaskMayday - request for civilians to make masks for medical providers

An online campaign has been started to get folks to make masks for healthcare workers. The different sites include how-to instructions.

This would be a great way for those of us idled at home to make a difference.

1. while not highly effective they at least reduce the amount of particulate spray from wearers

as opposed to none at all. cotton masks like those posted here on DU also are washable and last until the elastic weakens

3. The CDC is now okaying scarf s & bandanas for healthcare workers, so these masks

would work as well as a scarf or bandana, at least.

7. Big question - do the recipients have a way to sterilize them?

I have submitted this question to some of the folks promoting this campaign. But no response yet. My concern would be if some of the makers themselves may be CV+.

Any medical personnel out there who could offer ideas? Can they be sterilized at hospitals before use?

9. i read that the hospitals etc receiving the masks would sterilize before use
