2. To be fair, our numbers are artificially inflated because we didn't test

We haven’t been testing sufficiently. We’re still not, but we are improving and doing more tests.

FL *may* start testing up to 625,000 starting tomorrow but likely not til next week

We are way behind where we should be in testing.

6. I wish someone good at stats would check to see what that trend is like

in areas with churches that are still having "in person" services. I'd be willing to bet they are spreading it like crazy. They can do that crap online. They are not only endangering their own health, but spreading it and endangering the health of anyone who is "essential personnel" and has to keep working. I want to see those stats. I wish someone would start paying attention to that and other states and areas of the country where people are defying the rules about gathering in large groups of people.

19. Agreed! Bad enough it's happening - it's even worse when they brag about it.

12. Nitpick. Japan's "strong social norms" are about consideration more than "obedience"
Thu Mar 19, 2020, 08:00 PM
Mar 2020

They are taught over and over a million times by parents AND school to “be considerate of others”. They are also obsessed with cleanliness (no shoes in the house, parents nagging “kitanai!! Kitanai!!” which means “dirty!” every time a kid touches anything in public. They also don’t eat anything in public places except restaurants (no snacking on subway or park bench etc.)

Being considerate of others is an essential part of being allowed to call yourself Japanese. There are always exceptions but they do NOT respect inconsiderate people.

15. We're a hair's breadth of a 50% increase over yesterday's total cases.
Thu Mar 19, 2020, 08:02 PM

And yesterday's increase was significiantly higher thn the preceding day.

That said, part of this is that earlier this week the Cleveland Clinic (at least) started drive-through testing. So a glut of test results are coming through that represent more the existence of unknown positives than new cases.

(Right now we have 49.2% more cases than yesterday)
