(268,919 posts)Over the Christmas holidays we'd sit on the beach and watch these massive ships come and go from Ocho Rios.
We'd keep our asses parked and not drive into town for fear of traffic - now the roads are clear.

(268,919 posts)We stay further down the coast away from the town - closer to Mammee Bay. I've never been a Trelawny fan -love Negril, and Portland. I love Doctor's Cave beach for swimming but can't handle Mobay - if you could just plant me on the beach I'd stay there all day.

what do you think of Dunnes Riverfalls?
We climbed it once and it was awesome
malaise
(268,919 posts)The thing is once the ships are in, we stayed put because all the tourists are heading to the falls and the traffic doesn't move. We have friends in Portland so we go used to go to Reach quite often back in the day. Much less traffic in that area.

(3,268 posts)My brother lives in a vacation destination town in New Hampshire and though the moneyed people mostly arrive in town by automobile. This time of year the roads are clear but summers can be a nightmare. He expects this summer may be hugely non-touristy....

(268,919 posts)Time for the locals to enjoy their town . I have no doubt that we'll be offered some nice cheap rates for the hotels and town houses on the beaches for the rest of this year.
