“I’m independent of Wall Street,” Romney said.

“I’m independent of Wall Street,” Romney, 64, said in an interview with Bloomberg Television airing today. “By the way, I haven’t ever worked on Wall Street.”

Romney, who made his fortune at the private equity firm Bain Capital LLC he helped found, said Wall Street firms were merely “service providers” to his company. The second-time Republican presidential candidate also argued he had created more jobs than he eliminated in lucrative deals that sometimes resulted in layoffs.

“The jobs created at Bain Capital by companies that we helped start or that we helped manage, those companies today employ well over 100,000 more jobs than, than those that were lost,” Romney said.

In today's New York Times, Krugman writes:

"The point is that Mr. Romney's claims about being a job creator would be nonsense even if he were being honest about the numbers, which he isn't.

"At this point, some readers may ask whether it isn't equally wrong to say that Mr. Romney destroyed jobs. Yes, it is. The real complaint about Mr. Romney and his colleagues isn't that they destroyed jobs, but that they destroyed good jobs. …

"The jobs that were lost paid more and had better benefits than the jobs that replaced them. Mr. Romney and those like him didn't destroy jobs, but they did enrich themselves while helping to destroy the American middle class."

Emblematic of Wall Street, and its most parasitic, sociopathic, job-killing abuses. Mitt's gonna wear this albatross clear through his horse-whipping in the November election...

Mitt saying he is independent from Wall Street is like a fox saying he is independent from the henhouse. Mitt, you made you money being a very largenpart of the problem, by promoting the idea.that companies are just resources to be gutted ( the people who work for them be damned.)

Let us make this clear Mitt, YOU AREBTHE EMBODIMENT OF THE PROBLEM WITH THIS ECONPMY and as soon as you get crowned candidate, we will focus on you.

WE WILL BURY THE IDEA THAT YOU ARE NOT ALL THAT BAD. Because we know you ate every bit as much the servant of the new aristocrats like the Koches and Bushes.
