I'm an internal medicine resident at a large county hospital. This past week has probably been one of the toughest weeks of my life.
We are inundated with large number of cases and we don't have enough equipment.
All this bullshit about millions of masks, gloves, gowns, thousands of new vents that Trump got us is straight up false.
My co-residents and I are struggling to even find one simple mask (not even a N95) for the whole damn day.
Please take this infection seriously. Please stay at home. If you have gloves or masks, please donate to your local hospital.
I am shook to my core and extremely scared. Honestly, I lie to parents every night when I say "I'm fine. Don't worry" over the phone. I am convinced I will get Covid-19. These next few weeks are going to be a nightmare.
Keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

(14,944 posts)They are about to run out of masks where she is in Upstate NY and another friends daughter at a hospital on Long Island gets one mask to use every day. This is a disgrace! Weve been caught flat footed and it is awful that we cant protect the people on the front lines. I pray you remain healthy and safe!

(22,474 posts)out when I took them off I kept them. I'm thinking of making a sterilizing solution and soaking them for some minutes and using them again.
I believe I have enough for myself but with our hospitals needing so many supplies I also have been thinking of donating some.
Also I have been thinking about making some of these hand made masks. This is the type of project that would be fun to do with others but.....

(11,448 posts)And my fellow citizens is stay home as much as possible.
I dont have a mask or I would give it up.
Thank you for not giving up, my daughter 40, manager of 400 people in public business is always telling me I am fine. I know she meets with strangers from all over daily and because she is surrounded by republicans and leans that way she thinks its overblown flu. Her business may be closed down soon, she runs large Honda dealership.
Hard not to worry as a mom, I am sure your parents are concerned but proud of you.

(1,586 posts)There is a cdc compliant pattern online and on youtube. My daughter and step-grandaughter are both CNAs. Going to send them to them so they can share them with co-workers.

(11,885 posts)And how much we understand how trump is doing you like the Governors , and how he does contractors, he stiffs them like he's doing to you , and the Governors , and is about to do to us with his stiffing us with his stimulus . trump is still claiming he's doing a great job while doing this to our great medical professionals. His lying now just exposes himself as a complete failure , with everything.

(53 posts)Hi,
Many folks are missing the issue that alcohol isn't too good vs the virus as opposed to bacteria. Soap and water, scrubbing to make friction is what breaks and removes the virus, along with bacteria.
if you wear gloves out side wash your hands with the gloves on, take the gloves off, remove your outside clothes, then wash your hands again.
Sanitizer isn't too useful vs the corona virus.
