Tucker Carlson calls on Burr to resign amid reports of stock selloff

Tucker Carlson calls on Burr to resign amid reports of stock selloff
By J. Edward Moreno - 03/19/20 11:05 PM EDT

Conservative Fox News host Tucker Carlson called on Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) to resign after reports that he sold off millions in personal stocks the week before the stock market began its steep dive amid fears of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Burr, the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, reportedly offloaded between $582,029 and $1.56 million of stock on Feb. 13 in almost 30 different transactions days after lawmakers on the intelligence committee were briefed on the virus.

“He didn’t give a prime time address, he didn’t go on television to sound the alarm,” Carlson said, pointing out that Burr wrote an op-ed days earlier with a much less dire message about the impact of the virus on U.S. life.

Carlson then called for Burr's resignation and prosecution for his actions.

“Maybe there’s an honest explanation for what he did; if there is, he should share it with the rest of us immediately,” Carlson said in a Thursday night segment on Fox News. “Otherwise, he must resign from the Senate and face prosecution for insider trading.”

Burr has pretended to be reasonable and honorable....but all along he's just a typical Republican thief.

I'm embarrassed about all the calls I've made to his office over the years asking him to do the right thing.

the cons who might have done what burr did. carlson attacked burr because burr held up some of the most stupid (limbaugh, hannity, carlson, etc) RW calls to expose the whistleblowers, derail the mueller probe, investigate bidens and others, etc, after RW radio and fox pushed fevered spittle-flecked putin-induced defenses of trump's treasons and corruptions.

That explanation, if honest would be imo: I like my money, so________.

You can fill in the blank to the excuse he'll use but the intent is to keep his money, the rationale is irrelevant to me. Should be irrelevant to Tucker too.

but, my concern about Schiff is that he is so effective as the head of House Intel, that it would be a shame to put him in the Senate and have him in the minority (hopefully temporarily)

Porter is arguably the most effective member of the House class of 2018, but she is a newbie.

The bill, aimed at prohibiting stock trading based on nonpublic information gleaned on Capitol Hill, overwhelmingly passed in the Senate by a 96-to-3 vote before being signed into law by President Barack Obama. Burr, one of the three senators to vote against the measure, described himself as a “brave soul” for going against the bill, according to a transcript of the radio interview posted to his Senate website.

Tucker Carlson and Fox News get their marching orders from Trump. Who does Trump want in Burr’s position? I feel weird about this. At the same time, I’m outraged at the thought someone would stand by and let Trump lie about a crisis and keep their mouth shut unless it’s to warn donors. I’m outraged at the Trump enabling by even semi-sane members of the GOP. BTW, DiFi didn’t do this, nor did she profit off of that briefing.

This is a hit job, but Burr has put himself in that position by staying silent to the general public on the pandemic along with curiously dumping stocks. If Carlson ever seems on the right side of an issue, something’s up. It’s an illusion.

they feed IQ45. IQ45 sometimes feeds them. But they're in no way subservient to the orange shit stain. He's just the useful idiot of the moment. I think Carlson sees, like anyone with more than 3 neurons in their head, that this just isn't spinnable. Not when Faux viewers have lost 20 to 30% of their investments. I think some Rethugs are going to be forced to fall on their swords. Maybe not Burr, since NC has a Democratic governor, but watch for others.

Is there some medication Carlson takes that he forgot to take, or did someone slip him some kind of truth serum that he normally would avoid contact with?

Or, less likely, but not completely to be excluded, has someone at Fix Noise seen some writing on some wall that the rest of the radical right wing media hasn't yet seen?

Or, more likely, did some smart programmer at Fox Noise slip this in, thinking, "let's say something sensible, and REALLY keep the lefties off balance?"

Tucker was balls deep in the Faux COVID-19 whitewashing, particularly the part where he blamed Democrats for sensationalizing the whole thing.

Faux has already sent one of their bobbleheads packing over this garbage and when people start dying wholesale, which isn't that far off, even wingnuts are going to want to know who was behind the fuckery that delayed the response. Tucker's excuse will be that he was bamboozled by right wing talking points and his duplicitous defense will be that he immediately started going after those responsible.

Make no mistake, Tucker is never going to go after any Republican unless there's something in it for him and right now he's in cover his own ass mode. The difference between him and Hannity is he's slightly smarter and is more vulnerable when Faux breaks out the chopping block.

He runs the Daily Caller hack site where he employs no-shit white supremacists to write his garbage. After the SPLC called him out for it, he immediately started attacking them on his show. Had more people noticed, Faux would have fired him for that alone, and I'm sure it still leaves a bad taste in their mouth. I think Tucker is just one more fuckup short of being out the door, and when he goes he'll be lucky to get airtime on the OAN straight up propaganda network.

I pulled out of the stock market on Feb 13th. Anyone who didn't buy into Trump's utter bullshit could have seen the writing on the wall. For the next week or two virtually every Faux pundit was telling everyone to stay in. Faux business network was even parroting out that nonsense. Just stay in the market. It will all be OK. Don't listen to the "liberal media".

The problem dipshits like Tucker have is they were repeating the bullshit and telling everyone this was all no big deal. As a result, Faux news watching wingnuts stayed in the market and lost their shorts. At some point some of them are going to wake up and realize they were taken for a ride by clowns like Tucker and Hannity, both of whom almost certainly pulled out of the market early themselves.
