Mike Bloomberg transfers campaign assets to Democratic Party to fight Trump in swing states

ormer New York mayor Mike Bloomberg has decided to donate significant components of his shuttered presidential campaign to the Democratic Party, a historic bequest that includes an $18 million cash infusion to organize for the general election in swing states.

The decision, which exploits a provision in campaign finance law available only to federal candidates, amounts to a shift in strategy for the billionaire political activist, who had previously promised to personally fund ground staff and offices in six states through an independent expenditure effort.

He now hopes that much of the same operation will be run through the state and national Democratic Party, which would allow forit to directly coordinatewith the Democratic nominee, who he expects to be former vice president Joe Biden. An independent expenditure campaign is barred from such coordination.

“While we considered creating our own independent entity to support the nominee and hold the President accountable, this race is too important to have many competing groups with good intentions but that are not coordinated and united in strategy and execution,” Bloomberg’s campaign wrote Friday to Democratic Chairman Tom Perez in a memo.

To accomplish thegoal, Bloomberg will transfer cash remaining in his presidential campaign account, which he donated, to the Democratic National Committee’s Battleground Build-Up 2020 effort for use in the general election. The money will allow the party to hire hundreds of additional organizers, party officials say. He will also transfer the long-term leases he has signed on some offices in some swing states to state Democratic parties.

No excuse in these times for candidates to sound like they are talking through blown out speakers or muffled.

I've been disappointed to see that his new FB ads are 'bland' in comparison to when he was running. I was wondering (hoping) they were just holding back until the final battle. I still have faith that he'll put his money where his mouth is.

I was incensed by Bloomberg’s candidacy. I didn’t want to see Bloomberg buying the presidency. I also saw his past policies while mayor of NYC as tending towards patriarchal tyranny—the stern parent who knows what’s best for the benighted citizenry.

But I’m all for this. I was hopeful when he said that regardless of how his presidential campaign came out he was going to use his substantial resources to do anything he could do to beat Trump. I’ve got to admit that the man has put his money where his mouth is.

Yay, Michael!!!!!

How many school lunches could be bought, tipped hospitality workers shored up, medical supplies purchased, day care for essential workers, and on and on and on. I call on the media whores to reject campaign ads and put the money to proper use.

This is a political board and we have to have more than one thing going. Remember when Ed Sullivan had a plate spinner guy on his show? The guy would run up and down the stage twirling plates, one after another to keep all the plates spinning at the same time.

We must remove the from our midst and from our White House. Bloomberg's money will go a long way toward changing the face of the nation.

Unlike the Serial Liar In Chief Bloomberg is an actual multi Billionaire who earned it by his ingenuity and smarts.....as opposed to Twitler who inherited 50+ Million from Daddy.

Plus he intimidates Orange Mussolini and we can use that along with his cash.

We need to crush that Monster then investigate his house of cards.....starting with his tax returns.
