I had a spike of blood pressure about two hours ago.

I went to donate blood. The office had us put a plastic strip under our tongues. They told me to step out of line. Uh oh.

I heard the number "99" mentioned during hushed conversation.

They politely told me that today was not a good day for me to donate.

So with pounding heart, I searched for a drugstore. I literally bought the last thermometer that was locked, behind the counter.

98.9 degrees, which is upper limits of normal, no fever.

As I'm a cashier at a grocery emporium, I'm going to take my temperature every six hours to check.

Don't get me wrong: I feel great, no symptoms of C-19.

My dark side grumbled now that I had a quick phase of fear, I likely had/have a spike in B/P, making me vulnerable to either exposure of the Virus or enhance its progression if I have it already. (Yes, I'm over 60.)

99 is considered a fever? Pachamama Mar 2020 #2
100 is usually the fever mark. But at the Red Cross, 99 won't get you on a table. no_hypocrisy Mar 2020 #4

I thought that as long as its below 100, its not considered a fever.

Many people, myself included can run higher at times when completely normal.

I am sorry this caused you stress. Thank you for having taken the time to go donate blood and hopefully you can in the near future.

Sorry about the temperature scare. I'm afraid to even check my temperature, so you're braver than me!

My BP spiked at the doctor appointment I had last week. It was so scarey just being there and everyone there looked stressed, with no protective equipment. My BP is normally 107/70. That day it was 140/85.

Stay well.

Calming down after a cheeseburger and onion rings, I now consider that I would rather know than not know ASAP. Maybe if you suppress the fever at the earliest opportunity, you can keep C-19 Virus from running away in your body. (The only Tylenol I found was in the supermarket. Albeit, it was Tylenol PM. And I only got the 24 pills, not 100, as I'm not a panic buyer.)
