JPMorgan Chase closes 1,000 branches nationwide amid coronavirus pandemic

JPMorgan Chase & Co. temporarily closed 1,000 Chase Bank branches across the U.S. on Thursday amid concerns about coronavirus (COVID-19).

In all, Chase plans to close about 20 percent of its branches nationwide.

“This will help us protect our employees as we provide essential services to our customers and the communities we serve,” Chase said in a statement.

Approximately 4,000 branches nationwide will remain open with reduced hours, the company said. Most of those open branches include drive-ups or partition glass at counters “to further safeguard employees and customers,” according to the company’s statement.
