Before, I heard you HAD to file by 15 April, but not pay until July and no penalties applied.

(20,237 posts)Unless they modify that and make it all consistent--15 July to FILE and PAY if due with no penalties.
I have a personal experience from last year but too pooped out at the moment to share.
Just when you think how much more can things get screwy, there it is.

(24,396 posts)My preparer doesnt efile until I pay him his fee, so I paid him as I didn't think it fair to make him wait for his $ as he had already done the work.

(20,237 posts)Husband passed last year at this time and so far I know I still file married filing jointly status. We been using Turbo since 1998. I prepared our returns until last year when I asked him to take over. It was the least complicated of all prior decades bc of the tax reform clicked in for 2018. You had to have beaucoup deductions which had changed it for us.
I don't care if I'm due little to nothing in a refund, but hope I don't need to shell out $$. Been blowing through funds lately. You name it.
