MEXICO CITY Each winter, some of Mexicos wealthiest residents flock to the snowy slopes of Colorado to ski, shop and socialize.
This year, at least 14 and probably many more came home infected with the coronavirus.
In a country that has not yet been hard hit by the pandemic, the travelers have become a focal point of efforts to prevent the virus from spreading widely.
Several of Mexicos most prominent business leaders including a banking executive, the chairman of Mexicos stock exchange and the chief executive of the company that makes Jose Cuervo tequila tested positive for the virus after traveling to Vail, a ski resort west of Denver.

(268,844 posts)1. One of the interesting things about this virus is that it it isn't the really low income
folks who are spreading it. Looks more like the high end travelers and frequent fliers and the cruise ship tourists.

because the rich have access to tests

In my area there are as many trophy homes as permanent ones and those people all showed up in the last couple weeks emptying out the grocery stores and will fill our small hospitals when they get sick. And they look at us as though there's something wrong with us.
And those are the folks who will bring the virus here to us.
