Nursery (not school) closed

Husband ordered an apple tree weeks ago from a local Nursery. They called him yesterday that the sapling was in and come in today to pick it up.

He drove 30 miles one way and they were closed. Nobody there. Tried calling and nobody answering the phone and no signs why.

Nurseries are not life sustaining businesses? You cannot plant your own veggies and fruit trees to grow yourself to sustain life?
