I swear that the tap water in the area that I live in has a stronger odor of chlorine. Are they putting in a higher amount of chlorine to make the water safer because of COVID-19 or is it just my imagination?

(1,174 posts)The local water district is doing spring maintenance on the water system. They use more chlorine at that time. That's what the local news cast reported at the first of March.

(1,527 posts)I guess the temperatures changes with spring coming causes it.

(569 posts)That's why I won't drink our city tap water. There is so much chlorine it burns my eyes in the shower.

(14,488 posts)they may temporarily jack up the chlorine injection levels. Can happen anywhere, but particularly when temperatures are higher than expected.
Probably not due to coronavirus because I don't believe viruses can survive the journey to water treatment, then the entire treatment process and miles of journey through pipes in water to our homes. They simply don't survive without a host for very long.....thank goodness.
