His calm yet decisive leadership, as exemplified by his appearances in the media, has been a stark contrast to Trump's ineptness.
I am posting this now because Gov. Cuomo is on CNN right now making scores of excellent points about how we must proceed right now to handle this pandemic
As just one example, he is saying the FDA should approve serologic testing of asymptomatic people to see if they have coronavirus antibodies. This would mean they have had the virus and have recovered. He stresses that this is especially important since it would let health care workers return to the front lines as soon as possible and not stay needlessly self-quarantined since they would no longer be spreading the virus.
It would also be invaluable to the economy in general, to allow people to return to work and keep society functioning as soon as possible.
My hat's off to him.

But Gov. Cuomo is only 62, so someday in the future he would definitely make a great Presidential candidate for us.

(5,294 posts)They, like most news sources, think that everything that happens in New York is national news but everything else is less-important.
Yesterday, I was watching Cuomo on MSNBC who, while impressive, went on much longer than was relevant. But MSNBC carried the whole thing.
Later that day, they showed a snippet of Gavin (who is also doing an impressive job; if I hadn't moved away from California I would happily vote for him), before going back to covering "national" news.

My husband has barely been home the last two weeks. They are all hands on deck.

(8,380 posts)I loved his father when he was governor. I used to live in NY (hence my username). Some of my friends, even some Democrats, don't like him. I don't know why. Can you explain why he is not easy to work for?
Thank you

(50,269 posts)who we put up to run against King Donald. Maybe Joe and Bernie can redeem themselves a bit if they can scrounge up a warehouse full of supplies or something and hold a press event. It's as if we suddenly have no candidates running because they get zero air time.

(50,269 posts)called a reporter for a chat? Anything. Both Joe and Bernie are being dwarfed by the imbecile in the White House and his daily hours long press events. I'm sure many people will vote Dem. in November no matter who it is, but it would be nice if they could still put a face to a name when they do.

He can state scary facts while calming people down.
I work for a NY state elected official. I have had my moments of frustration with the governor. But I have always known he is a smart and decent person. I also want to say that his staff has been very responsive, helpful and accessible under extraordinarily challenging circumstances.
The state had 180,000 claims for unemployment insurance in ONE HOUR!
Even that pendajo Lee Zeldin complimented Cuomo.
He is an exceptional leader.

(7,601 posts)Gov. Cuomo and his team have been working tirelessly and handling the crisis like a boss. I love the fact the he's been giving daily updates and has a plan of action.
Yesterday, I read an OP right here on DU that criticized him. I had to hang out in the lounge to keep calm.

(63,221 posts)his ability. Trump is his polar opposite. I actually get MORE nervous when I hear Trump speak because I feel like he is only going to make things worse, he doesn't understand what is going on, and he has no concept of public service. He does not care about the people of this country one bit.
The failure at the Federal level is alarming. We need to get Trump out of the way and let the adults run the show.

(81,220 posts)One of the main things I get is a sense of confidence in this kind of leadership. Hes telling the truth, whether its good or bad. And totally factual. Its the facts, and hes sharing and spreading solid information and FACTS. And with a demeanor thats appealing and calming and reassuring in its own New York-y way. I like his personality, his outlook, the way he expresses things and explains things. It gives me confidence that I can trust him and what he says.
And you bet your sweet bippy I find myself thinking Shit - I wish HE were President. That would be SOOOOOOOOOOO much better than what we ha e now. Why cant we have THAT for President.
We have to trust whoevers our president with our lives. trump utterly and repeatedly and consistently fails that test. Governor Cuomo passes it with flying colors and proves it again and again with each new morning briefing.
Can we have him for President for awhile? Or at least til this is over?
Joe Bidens latest two speeches struck me the same way, btw.
At least we have models of what REAL leadership is, looks like, and sounds like.
