Disgraced opera singer Plcido Domingo tests positive for coronavirus
Plácido Domingo, the legendary opera singer who has been accused of sexual harassment by more than 20 women, said Sunday that he has tested positive for coronavirus.
My family and I are all in self isolation for as long as it is deemed medically necessary, the 79-year-old Spanish singer wrote on Facebook Sunday morning. Currently we are all in good health but I experienced fever and cough symptoms therefore deciding to get tested and the result came back positive.
Domingo encouraged everyone to follow directives from the World Health Organization to stop the spread of the virus, including constant hand-washing and social distancing.
Together we can fight this virus and stop the current worldwide crisis, so we can hopefully return to our normal daily lives very soon, he wrote. Please follow your local governments guidelines and regulations for staying safe and protecting not just yourselves but our entire community.
Domingo resigned from the opera union Friday and agreed to donate $500,000 to sexual harassment eradication programs.
Last month, the the American Guild of Musical Artists found, after a four-month investigation, that Domingo had engaged in inappropriate activity, ranging from flirtation to sexual advances, in and outside of the workplace.
