(16,376 posts)Like celebrities, sports stars, and politicians? Meanwhile, symptomatic people can't get tested?
Or perhaps decision makers and others get tested asap and we hear about it, everyone else not so much.
I mean, would Rita Garfield's negative or Steve Schumacher's positive really make national news? How about Colin Davidson, Jayden de la Paz, Jaela Fredricks, Dot Peterson, Megan Kidwell, Susan Bakhsh, Pauline Robinson, Mike Dziewiecki, Nick Bayle, and 25000 other people?
(And if you're wondering who they are and why you should care, the point's made. We care more about the rich and famous, and therefore reporters will report them. Just like if you're a researcher you don't typically report negative results.)
If it came down to testing Rita Garfield, mother of 1, aged 32, who works at the front desk of the (currently closed) middle school or Nancy Pelosi, would you really say, "Yeah, test Rita. Nancy Pelosi ... if she infects the House, well, like I say, a pox on them all."
No, we wouldn't say that, even though Pelosi is wealthy and has connections we'd still be in favor of her getting the test first.
