(15,067 posts)Then you are correct.
But with that gut of his, I doubt he can bend over to reach his "boot straps".

(15,067 posts)I think if he did the bail out that the Democrats are proposing, without the fat cat tax, I think that would serve him well. But he's too stupid and greedy to understand that. And Steve Mnuchin won't explain it to him. He has some markers to pay off too.

And people need that cash now. They're counting on it.

(32,626 posts)it's a standard Republican ploy to pass the most egregious laws on the planet.

(15,298 posts)Dems could give them everything they want, and they would still run ads saying the exact same thing.
We'd better be nice to them or they might do something extreme like give a fucking presidential medal of freedom to a drug addled, pedophilic, racist purveyor of hate on the House floor.
We seem to forget that Dems have ads too.
Besides, you give that corrupt dipshit Mnuchin a $450B slush fund to dole out as he sees fit...secretly...AND give 90% of the funds to rich pricks... well then....the Democratic Party would be dead anyway.
I personally would help kill it.

(9,524 posts)the rules to majority?

(12,422 posts)That means that the 53-47 GOP majority is now reduced to 48-47. A stimulus bill will need 60 votes to pass in the Senate, meaning it will have to have substantial bipartisan support to get to 60, but the diminishing vote strength of the majority is on the minds of Republicans negotiating with Democrats to approve this must-pass bill.
Two senators introduced a bipartisan resolution on Thursday to amend the rules to allow senators to vote remotely during a national crisis, but McConnell has consistently opposed such a measure.
