MOSCOW (Reuters) - The Russian military will start sending medical help to Italy from Sunday to help it to battle the new coronavirus after receiving an order from President Vladimir Putin, Russia's Defense Ministry said in a statement.

Putin spoke to Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte on Saturday, the Kremlin said, adding that the Russian leader had offered his support and help in the form of mobile disinfection vehicles and specialists to aid the worst hit Italian regions.

Italy recorded a jump in deaths from the coronavirus of almost 800 on Saturday, taking the toll in the world's hardest-hit country to almost 5,000

A NATO nation is going to be helped by a non NATO nation.....remember when the USA was the front to helping others? Now due to the Orange one....not even handling the issue our-self.

5. Actually...its a very smart move.

Not only does it undermines the USA...it reinforces the role of Russia as protector of Europe. They defeated Napoleon and Adolph Hitler...they only failed during WW1...due to internal issues.

When I visited Paris, I was in absolute shock to see a street named after a mass murderer and genocidal maniac...Joseph Stalin..and I'm Russian. I was accosted by the usual, pick pocket scheme...I started speaking Russian....they immediately walked away.

We think of history barely in centuries....Europe thinks of it in millenniums.

Long story short....Russia sealed its borders with China (even before IMPOTUS did it) and later with European Countries when the virus took hold. Anyone flying from those nations were immediately put into quarantine....not Democratic for sure...but it worked. So I'll call a spade a spade....Putin has won this not only in the short term, but the long as well.

Price paid for the president we have...and note, I didn't capitalize it.
