By next week the US will have the highest number of infections in the world

Sounds terrible, but I figure if I can stay safe for a couple months a few million in The US will be sick and many thousands will die. Then people will start taking it seriously, some treatments will be developed, and PPE will be available. It’ll be worth it to stay home and isolate that long.

It would be great if I’m wrong about that.

Seven days later, March 22nd, more than ten times that: 8314 new cases

Because they're just beginning to implement measures - and only doing it like Italy - and because there is several days delay before the illness comes on and because they're starting to ramp up testing, 33,000 per day on the basis of the US being 5.5 times Italy's population, is not beyond the realm. In a week's time, they could be hitting 80,000 per day (but probably won't because they can't test them).

It's going to be a brutal gut wrenching punch up. Might have to ration how much news you watch.
