Spring Break in FL -- Plenty of blame to go around

WHY did the parents of the students who congregated in Florida FINANCIALLY SUBSIDIZE their children's trips?

WHY did the parents buy the plane tickets?

WHY did the parents give their kids money?

WHY did the parents pay for hotel/motel rooms AND NOT CANCEL the reservations?

WHY did the parents not forbid their kids from going?

- - - - -

I know, I know, I know. I was 21 decades ago. But the only way I could do stuff without my parents' approval was to be financially independent and short of a trust fund, that was impossible.

She was heading to Texas this week with friends for a 'end of senior year in college' party/trip...canceled it without even having to be cautioned at all. But some of her friends decided to go anyway...youth will never listen to wisdom and age cannot understand the risk taking of inexperience.

I am thankful that my daughter made the right choice on her own. At least I managed to do SOMETHING of value by raising her the best I could...

Blame him that some will die because he played Trump's lap dog.

Kids will be kids. Governors should not be acting like kids.

It's sad.

5. You started from the assumption that parent is a noun.

Change it to a verb and it just reveals someone who shirked their self-imposed responsibilities. These students' models failed to parent them.

Gas is cheap.
So sick of people blaming parents for everything. You have no legal control over them at 18. They may be at college in a different states with their friends, girlfriends, etc. Get in the car and drive south is pretty cheap.

Parents get blamed for being helicopter parents, too soft, too controlling, too distant, too everything.

Maybe some of those parents are a little old or a little sick or on chemo, and didn’t really want their socializing college kids to potentially bring the illness home after months away at college. Sure! Bring it home to granny! Bring it home to the dad on chemo!

Forbid? I haven’t been able to forbid mien from doing anything he really wanted to do since he turned 15.

It seems a rather dated assumption that mom and dad paid for every single college spring breaker. I’m also sort of gobsmacked by the blaming of parents for what ADULTS are doing. And no, OP, I don’t have children.
