We want to make sure that we are investing in the American people. Enough money to hospitals and community health centers making sure enough testing and equipment for everyone
Money going to grass roots. Expanded unemployment full and part time workers, with cash in workers hands. Cancelling student loan debts, increase Social Security payments to 200 dollars for the next couple of years
Relief out to small businesses. Need help fast
Any help to big industries are not used to stock buybacks or executive bonuses and money is used to invest in their workers
There must be oversight
She understands there will be compromise, but there must be strings attached to this package
The interviewer said the reason this is not happening is because of Democrats, she threw it right back at the interviewer by telling him it WASN'T because of the Democrats but the republicans
The asshole interviewer backs off a little from "blaming" Democrats, and says ok, it is both sides fault. She let him have it on that one also.
That is my summary of the interview

(91,944 posts)but she definitely did not let him get away with the talking point that it was all the Democrats fault, and set him straight on that, so he backed off a little by saying, "ok it is both peoples fault"
She set him straight on that also
It was definitely a hostile interviewer, but she handled him very adequately. Very impressive

(12,538 posts)A hostile interview with a Repug-leaning reporter means the Dem is standing firm on our principles. Elizabeth Warren does not suffer fools -- especially ones who try to pull the "both sides are at fault" bullshit. The Republicans are solely to blame for this bill. They want no accountability, a half trillion dollar slush fund controlled by a Trump flunky, no guarantees that any money given to corporations won't go to executives as bonuses or to buy back stock. Trump won't even say he will refuse to take a chunk of money to enrich himself.
What the Repugs want to do is wrongheaded, and evil, and just plain unAmerican. They have already demonstrated they are in the cult of Trump, and only care about his needs and their own. If this passes without strict restrictions and accountability, the Dems will have failed -- especially since they hold all the cards in both the Senate and House, and the bill cannot pass without their support. Let Moscow Mitch and Donnie Two Scoops yell all they want. Let IQ45 tweet incoherent attacks on our party and our leaders. Let the MAGAts gather in tight groups to protest for their right to get screwed again. #CullTheHerd
"Never let a good crisis go to waste" is the Republican's creed. Call your Senators at (202) 224-3121 and let them know you support them.

And thanks for the summary, still. Mr blm is doing work from home, and baby blms college courses are now being teleconferences, so we are keeping the tv off during the day.

(91,944 posts)when the MSM starts spewing that headline that it is the "Democrats" who are delaying this
In fact I would be surprised if they give that much airtime to the Democratic point of view
I hope I am wrong
BeckyDem
(8,361 posts)should be able to get air time. They all have to orchestrate that best they can. If need be, put together an online forum where they voice their opposition together. The optics would be great too. Americans need to see this literal push back.

While some of their interviewers do have a bias, most are pretty neutral, and their employees are international from all over the world
That is my take for what it is worth

(4,141 posts)There are some who have so little income that Medicaid picks up Part B and C premiums AND they receive SNAP benefits. States will have to change the guideline for those people no matter their age so they are not put in a worse financial situation.
