1. Maybe, yet, they tend to travel more, have more interactions with traveled folks--not all but

generally speaking.

Still. it makes it real for many when the rich and famous--or well known also get infected.

2. Possibly... but I do not believe there is a direct correlation to be made.

Prevalent and widespread than we currently realize. Think about it.
Possibly... but I do not believe there is a direct correlation to be made. I think it makes more sense if we consider the fact that celebs (politicians, actors, sports-stars, singers, etc) are more likely to be in face-to-face contact with more people than the average citizen is. It's part of their job, it comes with their celebrity status.

3. If they have it, it's probably because they travel more

and/or attend more large or public gatherings than most of us peons. Actors and other performers work with large numbers of people behind the scenes when preparing for a tv show or a movie. Politicians are constantly in meetings when they aren't campaigning. Most famous people are famous because they're out in public a lot. That's how you get it. I don't think there is a correlation otherwise.

4. Or it could be, and I'm just spitballing here, a disease of affluence or linked to affluence

A pathogen that has originally evolved in a "wet market" where people bought and consumed live food and exotic goods as opposed to one where long term, safe, and non-perishable goods are bought. And now taking advantage of air travel, of commuting long distances, etc.

That's not to say the poor are immune, they aren't. But how "rich" automatically doesn't mean "smart", it also doesn't automatically mean "healthy".

The rich have ways of spreading the disease faster, they aren't working-class so they won't show the specific symptoms of COVID-19 as fast, and as I stated above, has links to exotic and esoteric goods... I feel comfortable calling it linked to affluence.

It's literally affluenza.

5. I was thinking the opposite. The people mentioned have a lot of contact with others.

They also travel a LOT. They also have $ and influence to get tested, or are connected to powerful people who do (think sports players).

I think the best effect from the announcements that these high-profile people are also getting infected is to make it REAL for those who still believe Trump's "hoax" BS, as well as otherwise intelligent people suffering from normalcy bias.

6. Or they're getting the testing that all of us should be getting.

Rand Paul asymptotic, but tested. Entire basketball teams tested because of contact—that’s how it should be done, but it’s the exception, not the rule. The rule is that the rich, famous, and powerful get tested routinely but the rest of us are tested only if we have to be admitted to the hospital (at least in my area; maybe other regions are better).
