Today - Senate Democrats again defeat key procedural vote on coronavirus package

I know we want them to stick to their guns but the masses aren’t going to remember the details. Just saying.

The Senate reached a critical pressure point on Monday as Democrats tanked another procedural vote while they negotiate a nearly $2 trillion coronavirus economic rescue package.

The vote’s failure — which comes after four days of frenetic talks — further frustrated Senate Republicans and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who has aggressively pushed for a deal by Monday. Every Democrat voted against moving forward on Monday’s procedural vote except Sen. Doug Jones (D-Ala.).

Ds need to stick to their guns. We have complete control of the House and enhanced control of the Senate. A D-written package is the only package that has a chance of passing. Yertle knows this, which is why he’s trying to jam thru his corporate giveaway.

I think it is obvious who matters most and our capitalism has its shibboleths that take the priority here and so, without using nasty, bad words like "welfare", (as in of the people?) or socialism, the failures of industry to create any resilience for a crises in lieu of profits must be compensated for ASAP.

The people? Oh, gosh. Useless eaters? Come on, they are a dime a dozen and even reproduce, so replacements are always available to exploit. No problem there.

The formula will have to be endless bailouts for the worthy ones if nothing is done for that important part of the business circle, the consumers. There is nothing like having a product or service that has less and less takers. What's that brilliant economic model called?

Let them eat something or other!

We don't want to just give the mega businesses the keys to the treasury to plunder. If we are going to go into that kind of debt, it needs to be to save the workers, otherwise we are going to end up in a feudal society before you can say, "Don't do it."

If it takes a couple of days to get it right, so be it.

Hang in the Democrats. Do the right thing, we will remember it.

A deal will be passed this week, one way or another. This is a deadlock that the Republicans can't afford to allow to go on much longer either. In that way this is like prior Government shutdown battles. Even when one side gets almost all the blame initially, like Trump did the last time there was a government shutdown, within a few months it is all ancient history. So much is going to happen between now an November that the only thing that matters now is what serves both the the long and short term interests of the American people.

Another fucking giveaway to the rich and corporations while the masses get screwed yet again! Am I just naive or am I not getting something about why we can't overwrite this sick right-wing narrative?

That's how these things usually work. McConnell reads out loud some portions of Dem proposals that talk about global warming or union goals and Joe Six Pack thinks that's all the Dems are concerned about.

We're losing the PR fight, which means the Republicans will hold firm and the Dems will eventually cave.
