(51,584 posts)I would worry. That seems to be the one symptom left off of the lists. Nurses at the care facility first hit in WA said this is what they saw before their residents died.

But it's more likely an allergic reaction. Not unusual for this time of year.

Then again, I'm constantly amazed at what I don't know that everyone else has known for years.

(11,767 posts)Between us three sisters, we have 5 kitties. I'm also sensitive to Birch, grasses, juniper, lily, boxwood, lots of other oily shrubs- break out in rashes and also other symptoms. The Bausch and Lomb Opcon A is awesome. They relieve my miserable eye irritation, plus, clear up my clear runny sinus stuff. I've been lucky to get it on sale a twofer at Albertson's. I also take a dollar store generic benedryl twice a day. I still have symptoms, but are way better with the combo. Good luck!

(1,076 posts)The evil buggers.
But a lot of things can be causing this, from allergies to medications, stress to dry skin, food to not rinsing soap off your face well enough during a shower or bath.
So the first thing I usually try before panicking is something simple: Wash your face with soap and warm (NOT hot!) water outside of a shower or bath. I'm talking a good 5-10 minutes of scrubbing with soap and water. Rinse thoroughly for at least 3-5 minutes, then dry well and apply lotion. Sometimes, that's all I need to get right again.
Other times, taking an OTC Claritin or Zyrtec is the ticket. But it could be hard to get those now.
The problem with allergies, though, is that they can mimic or mask things that are similar to the symptoms of coronavirus. If the itching persists beyond face washing and OTC allergy meds, then it may be something that a doctor needs to sort out.
Better to be safe than sorry.
