Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis says he does not want to issue a "shelter in place" order for the Sunshine State since about a third of the state's 67 counties have no confirmed cases.

People here are still looking for places to go. The airport is still receiving tons of passengers in spite of the *FIFTH* TSA agent to have tested positive now

I just can’t anymore.

I can’t.

I don’t understand the fear of doing the right thing.

I don’t understand greed over empathy and common sense

To Republicans, money is everything. Profits are more important than lives. When the corporate masters tell them to jump, they ask, "How high." Otherwise, the campaign money will go to a candidate that will follow orders, and money decides elections. The situation is the wages of the failure of campaign finance rehabilitation. As long as offices are bought, we can expect this kind of leadership.

The Republicans are so blinded by the thoughts of financial pain, that they are making irrational decisions that may seem good in the short term but will be devastating in the long term. These Republican politicians are willing to kill the working geese that lay the golden eggs.

I've been averaging about three or four people weekly who state outright that they think the pandemic is either overblown or a complete hoax. I get the sense that a similar number are doubtful, based on how they react to the sight of my nitrile gloves, though they don't speak up.

It's amazing and tragic that so many people could be so catastrophically stupid (eg., Rand Paul), and there's no sign that it'll let up any time soon.

When I raised this subject elsewhere, someone rightly noted that a certain kind of asshole is simply proud of being stubborn, no matter how dangerous or demonstrably stupid it is. They've attached their identity to this notion that No One's Gonna Tell Me How To Live, and they'll ride that hospital gurney all the way to the grave.

It doesn't help that Fuckhead Trump is out they spewing bullshit 24/7, either. Every word out of his mouth, and every move he's made, have worsened the pandemic. The virus couldn't ask for a better ally than Trump has proven himself to be, and he's got tons of brainless & willing accomplices.

But he won’t do anything first

Guess he thinks if trump does that he’ll get some federal dollars to help out?

I seldom look longingly to Kansas, but sure as hell are doing so now in light of their choice of elected officials, esp. Gov Kelly.

to say things like “no confirmed cases.” Wait till this shit hits The Villages. I’d rather it didn’t but, it’s inevitable.
