Already 1,388 cases in Louisiana and 46 deaths. I think the virus was spreading during Mardi Gras, before anyone knew how bad it would get.

New Orleans already has 675 cases and 26 deaths. The Mayor of New Orleans is a Democrat and she is on it, but it's still bad.

with people packed closely together, getting shit-faced drunk. This was before the virus was spreading rapidly around the country and anyone knew how bad it was.

She moved pretty quickly, as did our Democratic Governor, John Bel Edwards, once it was known that the virus was spreading rapidly throughout the US.

I think the virus was already spreading during Mardi Gras (February 25, 2020) and the related carnival events in the 6 or 8 weeks preceding it.

It is basic biology. Crowds spread the infection and yes, LA and NOLA were slow to respond to the need to contain crowding. As were several US cities. Eight days later and sadly, Orleans and Jefferson Parishes are seeing 675 and 293 cases/1388 total. Meanwhile, medical and public health colleagues were sending out the alarms in early March. They were ignored for two critical weeks.

I love NOLA and I'm not blaming anyone. But that doesn't change the explosion of cases that are occurring and which saddens the hell out of me. I wish all well.

Trump should be trying to prevent the next hot spots.

Maricopa County's cases are rising rapidly. There are no lockdowns here, but there are superficial precautions. Businesses are open. There's practically no testing here. I live in a county with allegedly "zero cases" but nobody believes it.
