advocating for rescuing the economy by isolating the high risk and letting everyone else carry on as normal. When further pressed, they will note that those high-risk folks are basically poor, disabled, infirm and elderly. They're a "drain on the system." "Takers not producers."
Sound vaguely familiar? It should. It's eugenics by another name. Isolate then eradicate.
They don't need the ovens and Zyklon this time. Nature's little bug will do the work.

(31,109 posts)Now, in this scenario the entire US Senate almost has to go, Rump and Pence as well.
They are old.
In reality it will depend on your wealth and connections...we know that
So as long as the GOP senators and prez and vp and the GOP people over that age who are rich go, then so be it.
but they wont

it sounds like that's a national meme being used to support the trump motherfucker
and this station depends on the univ of NM to keep broadcasting sports on it. stupid fucking UNM actually advertises on it during the limbaugh show! recruiting ads!

(11,635 posts)I would not put it past Republican leaders to figure that people in big cities (New York, San Francisco, Seattle) - many of those being Democrats, primarily, are also 'disposable. (So why bother having the Feds help, etc.)
Quite a few Right-wing pundits have been whipping up hate against Democrats for years. 25-30 years.

(123 posts)The older a person is, the more likely they are to support trump. So killing off old people particularly in battleground states, Fl for example, would be very bad for repubs. Am I missing something?
I dont think it's all that sinister. Yes, they think old folks are a drain on the system, but I think trump just wants the "sock rocket" to go back up.

(10,053 posts)I don't think it's all that sinister.
you are talking about how they probably DON'T have a sinister plan because they need the old folks to live and vote for trump, right? You are not saying that their alleged plan of letting old folks die is not sinister...
I am a little weary at the moment, not sure if I am reading this right...
I think people dying, anybody dying, young or old doesn't matter to trump. It's all just collateral damage. Sorry, didn't mean to offend anybody.

(10,053 posts)I was tired when I was reading the posts and I just wasn't sure what was what when you referred to sinister. Yes I think we all agree that trump doesn't care about anybody young or old.

(21,433 posts)and young adults would be that they are inferior if they do not survive so the world is better off without them.
When I think about the lowest paid and least regarded members of society who are keeping us going, like grocery clerks, truckers, Amazon employees, and nurses, I think about the consequences of the Plague in Medieval times.
The peasants deserted their manor lord masters and demanded higher wages and more rights. The old feudal system cracked and began to fall. Not all at once, but the Plague was the catalyst. The elite were taunted with rhymes and slogans about the equality of disease and death.
We might see some parallels to this in our times.

(51,550 posts)80% of infections are people under age 65.
And we still don't know if once you've had Covid-19 you're immune, or if you will get sick again if exposed again.
Even if the elderly are sacrificed, mllions of old AND young will die. And with everyone sick and dying, the economy will crash regardless. So all the right wing miscreants will accomplish is giving us 2 million more graves.

(8,814 posts)Genocide..................
The Senior/Elderly Genocide is just another step up the ladder for them to destroy ones underneath them.
They figure just like you said that it gets rid of a whole segment of the population who are a drain on the system.
It would solve so many problems and multiple financial drains:
money for Social Security
money for Disabled
money for snap food stamps
money for medicare
money for anything other than politicians, the uber wealthy and corporations. Especially corporate tax cuts and corporate welfare.
This would be the SECOND Genocide in this nations history.....It's just too frikkin bad that the Native Americans didn't have a Border Patrol and ICE squad. This time it is Corona, last time it was smallpox in blankets......

(18,672 posts)The likes of Trump and the GOP have no plan. Their only plan for the past 40 years is looting the treasury whenever they get into power and taking money from the poor and middle class and giving it to the rich. That is all. Trump is okay with killing the most vulnerable because he is incapable of coming up with a solution to both keep the economy stable AND flatten the curve. Fuck it. He'd rather allow millions to die than let on that he is so far out of his league and utterly clueless as to how to even start coming up with any solutions. His narcissism won't allow him to listen to experts because, after all, he knows more than everybody.
