I think this virus was around in December.

I know two people who had weird flu like upper respiratory sickness.

Almost died.

The Drs didn't what it was.

Yeah.

All Christmas parties and flying around the country.

I was working on my van back then and didn't go anywheres.

These were two sick people.

Wed Mar 25, 2020, 01:46 PM
Mar 2020

"Chevy Van" is a 1973 song, written and sung by Sammy Johns with instrumental backing provided by Los Angeles-based session musicians from the Wrecking Crew. The song was a hit single in the United States and Canada in 1975, reaching #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and becoming a million seller. It was played primarily on AM Top 40 stations in the 1970s; later re-recordings were done in a country vein.

It details how an unnamed male driver picks up an unnamed female, who then proceeds to eventually seduce him into a one-night stand in the back of his Chevrolet Van. At the end he drops her off "in a town that was so small, you could throw a rock from end to end. A dirt road main street, she walked off in bare feet", and laments "It's a shame I won't be passing through again." The song struck a chord with listeners in the sexually liberated early 1970s when Johns released it.

He figured it was the flu and was fatigued, had no appetite, and probably had a slight fever too, because he said he was cold for about 4 days.

The oddest thing was that he said his chest hurt like a linebacker whooped him - said it hurt when he touched it, but never mentioned any congestion or cough.

Maybe these weird illnesses going around were little cousins of COVID-19?

My son works in a school, and he told me a bunch of kids called off sick just before Xmas break. He ended up with it and brought it home to everyone. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US GOT IT!! My son's girlfriend had a weird symptom of red and burning eyelids. Now I don't know if that was it or not, but it was odd that every last one of us got it. It was wicked. I missed two days of work, and haven't missed a day in 4 years. Seriously. I actually got a flu shot this year, and at first, I thought it may have helped me because I was the last one to get it. It was brutal.

It didn’t follow my usual pattern of a cold or flu. I thought I was allergic to something. My throat felt like it was swollen.

I notice even now I am a bit more winded if I ride my exercise bike.

I definitely think it arrived sometime in mid December or so. First notice of it in Wuhan was around mid November I do believe.

I think this crap hopped on a plane and took a ride over in early December.

I really wish I could get an antibody test. If I had it and have resolved it, that means I am immune and could help out in hospitals or give plasma.

It seemed to start overnight with a sore throat. It was so painful I couldn't sleep all night. That got replaced by a cough that seemed really deep down in the lungs. I was close to passing out from coughing more than once. The worst was the sinus pain, though. My nose wasn't even clogged, but my cheeks, teeth, hell - my entire face felt like it was punched. After a few weeks the sinuses started to drain, and it was blood tinged mucus.

The weirdest thing about all of it was that when I had head colds before, I never completely lost my sense of smell. But I did this time! It was awful.

All that being said, I don't think that this was the coronavirus, though. But it sure as hell was a superbug.

"US on track for one of the worst flu seasons in decades"

"The initial indicators indicate this is not going to be a good season -- this is going to be a bad season," Fauci said.

So far this flu season, at least 2,900 people in the US are estimated to have died of the flu, according to data released Friday by the CDC. That's 800 more deaths than estimated the previous week.

Flu cases and hospitalizations because of the flu have also risen sharply since the season began in October. CDC estimates there have been at least 6.4 million flu illnesses and 55,000 hospitalizations.

Fauci said it's possible this steep rise in flu activity could reverse itself soon, in which case the season wouldn't end up being so severe.

February 23, 2020. Never will forget that day. Got the WORSE - literally - stomach ache and upset in my life. Literally.

Will not tell to many additional details about that stomach ache except it felt like my stomach was falling out. Had a fever, took Tylenol (now I know that was the best thing ever to do - as I don't take Advil -- and normally take Aleve).

Took Tylenol but had a fever for 2-3 days. Never over 100.3. Took something else for the stomach issue. Stayed the entire weekend on the couch.

By Monday, called a friend at the dinner I attended on February 23, 2020. Asked did anyone get sick from the Salad - which was the only thing ate. Did not feel like eating anything else, left early. The friend said no, they did not hear anything. Thought it was the stomach flu and a bad case at that.

One week later, coming from Phoenix, at the airport going to the gate - had the worst feeling in my knee. Had not felt that unease in my knee since 35 years before - before my surgery. Felt like I was running out of breath and I was not walking fast. Had plenty of time to get to the gate. At least an hour before takeoff.

Took one more step on the uneasy and strange feeling knee --- and SNAP. Something snapped in the back of my leg. Felt like the muscle and it hurt. Screamed out and a lady ran up behind and asked if I needed security. Told her I needed a Wheelchair. Another guy came up and said he would help me get to a chair -- then left to go get a Airport attendant with a Wheelchair.

Could not move the leg forward or back. Could not walk on that leg at all without PAIN. A lot of PAIN. The gentlemen helped me to the Wheelchair - the Airport Attendant helped me to the plane - Hopped to Seat 23-C and all the same in reverse after landing. That was crazy.

Got home barely with a Lyft. Hopped in the house. Sat for hours and feel asleep. Woke up - went to Urgent Care - got a knee brace - sat for another weekend - got a ortho appointment - scheduled a MRI from the Dr. Wore the knee brace as I could not walk without it and crutches.

Then, still with all of this -- four days later had a breathing episode. Could not catch my breath at work, dry cough -- and on my way to the ER. Got an inhaler (p.s. no asthma history here), I.V., CT and discharged with fluid on the heart. Only a little fluid so....

Sat again for another weekend on the couch with the Inhaler. Knee was beginning feel better. No more crutches. Small hop and could bare weight on it. Another day, the knee brace came off and the knee felt like the airport incident was an out-of-body experience because the knee was fine.

So, here what is strange.

Spouse got the Strange "Stomach Flu" the next day after mines. Three of his co-workers also.

Talked to two close friends (who I had no physical contact with all of the time above) in the last two days. They had the Strange "Stomach Flu" too. One friend Boyfriend got it right after she got it. The other friend - two of her Co-Workers got what she had.

With COVID-19 -- their are other symptoms besides - Respiratory Distress -- with lucky for me - I did not have. Just a strange breathing and coughing episode. They include....

Fever, Severe Stomach Upset, Joint Pains with the other symptoms in full or partial like the breathing episode, possibly -- based on hours and hours of international research with China and Italy news resources.

If we had it (the Spouse and I) we got lucky. The spouse has a pre-existing condition that's in remission (over 20 years) that is lung related. If we had it, our daily supplements Turmeric, Flaxseed and Black Seed Oil - might be the only thing that saved us from the worst aspects of COVID-19. And taking the Tylenol with the fever.

WHY IS THE GOVERNMENT NOT TESTING EVERYONE? We know, not enough tests. But that is because of TRUMP the Psychopath. However, IF WE HAD IT, we would GLADLY give our blood that might have antibodies that could be cloned to save someone else.

God Help Us All!

Negative for all the normal things. We have lots of Asians in the N. Texas area ... Maybe Wuhan???

What I had was also highly contagious. I know exactly when I caught it from an unavoidable breath when someone coughed right in front of me in Wal-Mart.

My wife and son got really sick over Valentine's Day. Once again centered in lungs with cough and fever. Son had what seemed a recovery went back to school two days, and spiked fever and had a worsening cough.

China has had Covid-19 cases since at least November, so it is certainly conceivable that visitors to Wuhan brought it home all over the world in November. Northern Italy has a lot of trade with Wuhan because of textiles and auto parts. Same with NY, L.A, and Detroit. Seatle has lots of tech connections with Wuhan (Seattle's first confirmed case had visited Wuhan).

Remuzzi says he is now hearing information about it from general practitioners. "They remember having seen very strange pneumonia, very severe, particularly in old people in December and even November," he says. "This means that the virus was circulating, at least in [the northern region of] Lombardy and before we were aware of this outbreak occurring in China."

I won't go into great detail because my symptoms were as most of you have described. My hubby and I both had it. We both have had flu and pneumonia shots, and are both type O blood. We had fevers, deep, dry cough with no congestion, extreme fatigue, etc., and were sick for 4 to 6 weeks in late Dec and Jan. We took immune system booster herbs, tylenol, mucinex, and DM cough syrup so we could sleep. We eventually got through it but it was, as others have said, like no flu I've ever had. It was hellish. We've come to think we may have experienced an early version of it.

Time and history will tell, of course. But, I've seem the testing data and and it doesn't support any of this to date. None, zero.

We all want to think we've had it already. I've been dealing with this denial within communities for two months. Then it comes to their actual doorsteps. Then everyone including them get sick.

Please, be safe and take precautions. The odds overwhelmingly are you're not immune. Be smart. Don't participate in silly hive mindsets. Please?

February 28, 2020, the Virus was here in America.

January 1, 2020, the Virus was in the West for sure.

November 15, 2020, the Virus was in Wuhan.

We live "thisclose" to the 10 Ten University, in a 15 miles radius of 4 Universities with International Students, a Top 5 Medical facility and lots of frequent travelers.

You can take the Hive Mindsets mentality and shove it. The Virus was in America in JANUARY 2020, for sure and likely in limit amounts depending on the area, in mid-late December 2020.

My Spouse, I, Friends or Co-Workers did NOT have "stomach flu" at different times with different sets of people, some of which never interacted with each others in Months - if ever.

So, again -take the Hive Mindsets mentally and shove it. Or find a thread that tickles your fancy and jump out of this one.

The most telling thing would be the rate of infection.

If it truly was here earlier, then like China there would have been many, many people showing up at ER's with the symptoms in November or December - I'm pretty sure our health care system would have lit up like a Christmas tree if it was here any sooner than it's been tracked.

The Chinese doctors in Wuhan apparently observed pretty quickly that this was a different thing that they hadn't seen before. They weren't confusing it with the flu, or garden-variety pneumonia, or a bad cold. They could see it was something new. I believe the doctors in this country are as competent as those in China. If we had thousands of people sick from a brand new bug, with some of them dying from it, I expect someone would have noticed.

without it also showing up at the same time in other states (like NY, and others) that also have major global hubs/cities, then spreading inward shortly thereafter.

Scientists are still studying this, and testing was not done early on to know who had it especially if they had mild symptoms.

There is evidence the initial discovery of this was covered up.

The whistleblower, Li Wenliang, now deceased, was told to keep his mouth shut.

Why are you annoyed that this thing could have had a month or two jump on all of us?

It doesn't make it ANY less deadly or scary.

We are talking about the spread. And how fast it has moved. And that it's possible a lot more people have been touched by this than we have ANY idea possible. This is not just NYC or LA like certain people want it to be.

Do you think it was covered up in the US as well? That seems very unlikely. If this thing was sickening and killing a bunch of people in the US in December, why weren't we hearing about this weird new pneumonia from our people?

They aren't as inept and incompetent as you seem to think. Do you remember how quickly they figured out that just a few cases of the vaping illness were related? But, you seem to think they just completely missed thousands of people all over the US with this new disease.

It lasted 2 days, and the 3rd day I was able to work, but I was still a little under.
I never had any difficulty breathing, but I was coughing stuff up.

tourist season there was still in swing if winding down. It is highly-doubtful the CPC was not aware of the outbreak in the first weeks of November...in fact:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/13/first-covid-19-case-happened-in-november-china-government-records-show-report

First Covid-19 case happened in November, China government records show - report
Earliest case detected on 17 November, weeks before authorities acknowledged new virus, says Chinese media

The first case of someone suffering from Covid-19 can be traced back to 17 November, according to media reports on unpublished Chinese government data.

The report, in the South China Morning Post, said Chinese authorities had identified at least 266 people who contracted the virus last year and who came under medical surveillance, and the earliest case was 17 November – weeks before authorities announced the emergence of the new virus.

The Chinese government was widely criticised over attempts to cover up the outbreak in the early weeks, including crackdowns on doctors who tried to warn colleagues about a new Sars-like virus which was emerging in the city of Wuhan in Hubei province.

The data obtained by the Post, which the Guardian has not been able to verify, said a 55-year-old from Hubei province could have been the first person to contract Covid-19. For about one month after that date there were one to five new cases reported each day, the report said, and by 20 December there were 60 confirmed cases.

The virus, which is now a pandemic, has infected at least 128,343 people across the world and killed 4,702. Of those who have contracted the virus since it began, 68,324 people have recovered.

Almost 81,000 of the cases occurred in China, mostly in the province of Hubei.

My sons came down to NC where I live for Christmas for about 5 days. My youngest, 32, felt awful when he got here and 2 days after they left my wife came down with it and then myself about 5-7 days later. A terrible, dry, almost contant cough. Mine was pretty bad and my wife's was worse to the point that I demanded she go to her doctor, who could not figure out what it was. It lasted almost 2 weeks and then suddenly was gone. No fever, no sore throat, no body aches, just a horrible cough and a nose that ran like it was a faucet. Otherwise did not really feel "sick".

I also noticed a shortness of breath when out walking the dog but didn't think much of it and that has since gone away.

I wish the antibody test was available so we could see if it was Covid or not.

I didn’t want to sound like an idiot.

A fully functioning close friend of mine basically took to the couch and bed for over a month. The clinical course for this was extremely unusual: congestion and chills with some febrile episodes, complete loss of appetite, and lassitude. Pt has history of mono and Epstein-Barr and denied that the condition resembled her bouts of these. Occasional GI issues but not uncommon in inanactive peopleThis is not a complainer nor a hypochondriac. Sat in front of the tv almost unmoving for a month. Atypical and weird. Every day I called twice to check and it was the same story: don’t feel well, don’t know what’s wrong, congestion so great it’s causing nausea from swallowing so much mucous, bouts of fever, lassitude and exhaustion at times.

I will ask about the eyes and eyelids later today. This individual FINALLY feeling better after about five weeks of this.

I’m glad someone else posted this hypothesis: I didn’t want to sound like a lunatic. Or any more of a lunatic as I already sound.

They both are really healthy and within a few days got all the symptoms described - fever, chills, dry cough that intensified... The fever broke after a few days, but the respiratory issue and cough lingered for about 4 weeks.

They said had to handle all of the contents from that package from China that they had had overnighted to them (for their business).

This was mid-December. Neither had ever experienced anything like this strange, powerful type of flu.

why. Watching the way this is developing, the fastness of it but more the hospitalization of so many just so they can breathe, and the numbers of deaths I think lets us know that whatever we had back then wasn't this.

I had all front desk, five people with this. Starting with cough. Going to fever, mine was slight, others higher. Head aches and just feeling crappy for three days then cough lingered after. I pinned it to bronchitis, the others said flu. One had it go away and come back. It was an odd illness. Not a cold I have ever experienced and I do not think a flu.

I cannot believe now after listening to so many people, that all five of us just had a slight and easy experience with disease. And all the others on this thread telling their experience, though odd and interesting is not the same excruciating pain I am hearing from people that get it now.

I really thought the possibility there. We had a group of three working for two weeks in our place that had just come from a China visit, less than a month prior. I even joked with one about it. But, reading people experiences today, now I am thinking no.

children who were sick, I got a terrible cold that lasted for over a month. I never really had a fever, but the cough was so bad I was sent home from work a number of times. i tended to underestimate the seriousness of it. I did everything I could to lessen the severity of it, but it was of very long duration and really wore me out. I was kind of in denial that I was sick.

I feel like I have now had a slight relapse, while not nearly as bad, still concerning. This happened to me about 15 years ago in NYC where I basically had a cold that lasted the entire winter and didn't go away until sometime in April or May. I am being good and staying home so as not to concern anyone else. I don't mind it very much, but I would really like to feel completely healthy again.
