TX-22: Republican candidate says coronavirus is saving more lives than it's killing

On Tuesday, Kathaleen Wall, a member of the Texas State Republican Executive Committee and a candidate for Texas’ 22nd Congressional District, suggested that coronavirus will save more people than it kills this week — because abortion clinics in the state of Texas have been closed.

The order from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has suspended all abortions in the state except in cases of life-threatening pregnancy complications. Texas is one of multiple Republican-led states to take advantage of the coronavirus pandemic to order a halt to abortions, under the guise of freeing up medical resources.

The 22nd Congressional District, in the southern suburbs of Houston, is being vacated by retiring GOP Rep. Pete Olson, who only narrowly won re-election in 2018 after a tough race. The district is one of many in Texas that has trended left as the suburbs have grown and diversified, and college-educated voters have turned away from the Republican Party. The Democratic candidate from 2018, former diplomat Sri Kulkarni, is running again.

Wall spent over $6 million in 2018 running in the GOP primary for TX CD 2 and did not make the primary run off. Wall is running against Sheriff Nehls who is a major league asshole. This will be a fun race to watch

Sri Preston Kulkarni is the Democratic nominee and hopefully will flip this seat

Nehls is the male asshole sheriff. Pierce Bush ran in this race but did not make the run off.

if I was a betting man, I bet that Nehls will be the GOP nominee. He is an asshole who arrested a friend of Juanita Jean who had a F##C Trump on the back window of her truck

in 2018, Sri Preston Kulkarni got within 5% of the current office holder who is Pete Olson. Olson got some internal polling showing that he will lose and retired.

Sri is campaigning in 22 languages. The Fort Bend part of the district has a large Asian population who is being activated.

I like Sri. Sri is fluent in 6 language including Hebrew (I am not fluent in Hebrew). Sri spoke to the Jewish Caucus last year in Hebrew for three minutes. The Rabbi sitting next to me was impressed

The district is gerrymandered across three counties and has more than a million residents.
