Trump's businesses are barred from getting loans or investments under the new $2 trillion coronavirus stimulus deal, according to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
The Trump Organization, which the president has not divested, is run by his two elder sons, Donald Jr. and Eric. The company controls several hotels, resorts and golf clubs, including Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida. The resort closed last week, during its peak season.

(10,037 posts)how much of a hit "Dear Leader" is willing to take for the team. He's probably composing a well-thought-out tweet right now.

(14,647 posts)This was brought up in several threads. It makes perfect sense since it is so clearly a conflict of interest.
I fear it will easily be circumvented through third party shill companies and kickbacks from friendly business owners, but at least it cuts off the most obvious paths.
Then some introverted financial forensic investigator can follow money.

I think if the Senate hasnt completed writing this bill, Scarborough said, I think its extraordinarily important for the health of this nation, and I just got a note, Ive been worried about this all night and I just got a note from an ambassador who has the same concerns, its extraordinarily important that Donald Trumps own companies are not exempted from this bill, from this relief because by exempting Donald Trumps companies, you give him the worst incentives to reopen this government or to reopen this country quickly.
Trump surprised many by calling for a quick end to COVID-19 lockdowns, after six of the seven top revenue-producing clubs and hotels were shut down to prevent the spread of the virus.
Donald Trump, as I said earlier, he makes decisions based on his bottom line, Scarborough said. Its always been that way. By exempting Donald Trump and his businesses from getting relief, what you are doing is youre actually encouraging him to make rash decisions that are going to hurt America, and since we have a five-person panel to make sure that this isnt a slush fund, dont you think the wisest move, the most prudent move, and, yes, I will say this, the fairest move that the Senate can make is to let Donald Trump and his companies get the same relief that every other business in their position will be getting?
The same holds true for the senators, for the congressmen and women, and for other leaders, they should be treated no better than everybody else, but should be treated the same as every other business owner, he added.

(3,208 posts)but hasn't trump and family been getting quite a profit from funneling money from the Secret service detail being at his properties these past three+ years? Other businesses did not get any of that as they would with presidents who do not own hotels.
They have been skimming from the tax payers for too long. I realize there is no limit to their greed, but that is pushing it.

(23,065 posts)This will be no different than any of his other grifting, only larger. He always hides what he's really doing and I'd bet big money the so-called transparency is pure BS. You can't trust drumpf and certainly not with $500 billion.

And, Putin's Mitch will back the Liposuction Clinic Dumpster's right to do it. Because, you see... His re-election is in the Nation's best interest as he sees it.
There is no law. Except, the laws of nature. Which indicate strongly this isn't going to end well for the American people.
