This isnt true; and there are few things more dangerous than a president or top official saying something like this to a scared public. Most people still cant get tests.Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump
Just reported that the United States has done far more testing than any other nation, by far! In fact, over an eight day span, the United States now does more testing than what South Korea (which has been a very successful tester) does over an eight week span. Great job!

(6,448 posts)Because of Dubya's No Child Left Behind Act, American schools devote a vast amount of their time testing, rather than instructing our children. When you throw in the disciplinary problems and other distractions, this is devastating. Idiocracy is no longer a work of fiction.
My daughter is a high school sophomore and on the honor roll each quarter. I fear that she can't name all 50 states or locate the oceans on a map.
Trump was, however, a pioneer in developing his own personal ignorance way before we ever heard of G W Bush. There's a slight chance he'll get an actual majority this time, thanks to Dubya's piss-poor idea.

(25,474 posts)Mr. President, can you possibly stop lying? Even for an hour? Is it at all conceivable that you night tell the truth just once in your whole, miserable existence?
They all dutifully report for work, dutifully ask their question, dutifully listen to the answer of lies, dutifully sit down, and dutifully use words like, "dissemble", " not quite accurate", "misspoke" "mistakenly".
The word is "LIE". Got it you obsequious assholes???

(2,192 posts)Twisting statistics that are probably invented in the first place:
The United States has now conducted more coronavirus tests in the past eight days than South Korea did in eight weeks, according to White House coronavirus task force coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx.
"Probably by today we will have done more tests than South Korea did in eight weeks, in the last eight days," Birx said during a Fox News town hall. "In the last eight days we've done more testing than South Korea."
South Korea is seen as one of the countries with a gold standard of testing, so the statistic illustrates that the United States has been able to significantly ramp up testing in recent days.
The Trump administration took intense criticism for the extremely slow initial rollout of tests.
Private companies using "high throughput" machines that are able to process tests much quicker have now come online and significantly ramped up testing.
The American Enterprise Institute's tracker estimated the U.S. will be able to do more than 100,000 tests per day by March 27.
Birx said South Korea has done about 290,000 tests, and the United States has now done over 300,000. She said the U.S. is now doing 50,000 to 70,000 tests per day.

(2,192 posts)We have over 6x the population, per capita testing here is much much lower and coming much much later.
I'm glad to read that S Korea is willing to share what they don't need in country.
Trump would probably encourage the free market to profit were the tables turned.

(2,826 posts)South Korea has 1/6 the population of the US, so doing the same number of tests in the US as in South Korea has 1/6 the impact.
Also, the two countries reported their first cases on the same day. The US is only now, eight weeks in, ramping up testing. It needed to happen immediately, as it did in South Korea.
